Lila Mae (Druce) Young

Lila Mae (Druce) Young, 97, of Central Square, NY; passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2022 at St. Luke Health Facility in Oswego, NY. She was born in Fulton, NY; daughter of the late Ivan and Eudora Druce.

She was a 1944 Graduate of Mexico Academy and Central Schools and then went on to graduate from the Powelson Business Institute. She married Ellsworth “Ell” Young in 1946 and they were married for 50 years until his passing in 1996. She worked for 28 years for the Palermo Elementary School, as a Cashier and as School Secretary. The family was integral in the founding and building of the Palermo United Methodist Church when the three small churches from Clifford, Vermillion and Upsons Corners merged.

She enjoyed spending time with her family and was especially famous for the family picnics at their cottage at Sandy Pond.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Ellsworth; and her son, David A. Young.

Lila is survived by, her daughter, Susan M. Badger; five grandchildren, Tricia (Thomas) Griffith, Heather (Scott) Clark, Todd Badger, Mark (Kelly) Young and Melinda (Steve) Garfinkel; nine great-grandchildren, Valerie Badger, Peyton Badger, Aiden Badger, Cameron Will, Tristan Young, Joshua Young, Selah Young, Samuel Garfinkel, and Matthew Garfinkel.

Funeral Services will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday, October 3, 2022 from Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico, NY. Lila will be laid to rest in Mexico Village Cemetery. Relatives and Friends are invited to call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service.
