In Loving Memory of Richard W. Gearsbeck

Richard W. Gearsbeck 84, of West Monroe passed away July 30, 2019 from kidney disease. Born in Syracuse on March 26, 1935 to the late Welcome and Helen (Alletzhauser) Gearsbeck of Mallory.
Richard was a partner in Gearsbeck enterprises Inc. with his brother Arthur Gearsbeck also of West Monroe owned and operated for 32 years located on Rt. 49 West Monroe. Soon added various gas marts located in Sandy Creek, Hastings,and Pulaski. Also, Ezze Truck Stop off of 81. He was a hard worker, enjoyed hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. He enlisted in the Marine Core when he was 17. Was a veteran of the Korean War, served 3 years of active duty, and 5 years in the Reserves. He earned the rank of Sargent.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Margaret Ryder Gearsbeck, his 2 children Linda (Danny) Allen of Mexico, his son Richard (Patricia) Gearsbeck II of Hastings and brothers Randall Gearsbeck of Zephrhills Florida, Arthur (Sharon) Gearsbeck of West Monroe and Robert (Dorothy) Gearsbeck of Zephrhills Florida predeceased. His grandchildren Richard Gearsbeck III of Hastings, Michael Gearsbeck of West Monroe, Katy Gearsbeck of Hastings, Victoria (Chad) Grabowski of Pennellville, Remo Valazza II of Fulton, Nicole (Jarrett) Butchino of Hannibal, Danielle Allen of Litchfield Park Arizona, Rebecca Allen of New Haven, his 8 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held Monday August 5th at Harter Funeral Home 2983 W Main St. Parish 11 a.m.to 1 p.m. Burial service to immediately follow at Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Parish NY.
