Verna May (Zender) Henderson, 94, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at her home, surrounded by family. She was born in Parish, NY; daughter of the late Frank and Mildred Stevens Zender.

She was a long-time member of the Colosse Baptist Church and worked for many years at the Parish Public Library where she shared her love of reading and enjoyed conversing with patrons of all ages. She previously worked at the Colosse Cheese Factory and the Parish Oil Company. She loved to play Bingo, and enjoyed crocheting gifts of all kinds for her friends and family. She was well-known for her cake decorating abilities, creating beautiful cakes for every occasion. Her greatest joy was her family.

She was pre-deceased by her husband, Charles L. Henderson; grandson, William Henderson; son-in-law, Robert Kilts; brothers, Willard Zender, Frank Zender, Earl Zender, Carl Zender Richard Zender, and Harold Zender; and sister, Doris Forbes.

Verna is survived by, her seven children, Kenneth (Cherie) Henderson, Keith (Rose) Henderson, Kimberly Henderson, Kerry (Cheryl) Henderson, Gwen (David) Dolph, Lisa Henderson and Marilyn Kilts; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; her brother, James Zender; and two sisters, Valeta Mattison and Mary Alice Myers; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23, 2022 from Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 2983 W. Main Street, Parish, NY. Interment will be in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Parish, NY. Relatives and Friends are invited to call at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 from 4 to 7 p.m.
