Richard J. Wolcik, Sr. 80, of Mexico, NY passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, peacefully at home.

He was born to parents Raymond and Helen Wolcik on May 15, 1942 in Syracuse, NY.

He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Jerrett; children, Vicky, Richard Jr, Nikki (Ben Nash), Blake, and Paige (Joseph Santino); grandchildren, Jordan, Lindsey, Garrick (Katelyn), Bruce, Makenzie, Madison, Trevor and Joseph Jr.; and great-grandchildren Malcolm and Ka’mia.

Richard had many jobs doing mason work. Masonry was a skill passed down by his father, Raymond. He retired from Syracuse Housing Authority after 24 loyal years.

Richard was known for his passion for the outdoor, especially white-tail deer hunting. He was proud of the many trophies he brought home. Nascar was a favorite to watch for many years and Dale Earnhardt was a household name. Watching Syracuse Basketball brought him joy since he was involved in the construction of the original Dome.

Most of all Richard was a generous and supportive man that would do anything for someone in need. Richard adored his family. His children completely cherished the love they received from their father.

Funeral Services will be celebrated at 4 p.m. Friday, August 5, 2022 from Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico, NY. Relatives and Friends are invited to call from 2 to 4 p.m. at the funeral home, prior to the service. A celebration of life will be held at Mexico VFW Post #369, following the services.
