Obituary for Philip Stanley Watros

In Loving Memory
Philip S. Watros
May 12, 2021

Philip Stanley Watros, 32, of Mexico, died at Upstate University Hospital on Wednesday, May 12, 2021. Born October 26, 1988 in Pereira, Colombia, he and his twin brother, Alex, joined their forever family October 9, 1990. In keeping with Phil's wishes, his heart and other organs have restored the promise of life to many others.

Above all else, Phil loved and treasured his children, Hayden, Emma, and Bentley. Phil could light up any room with his entertaining wit and practical jokes. He found peace in the outdoors, was a passionate hunter, fisherman and loved animals. His love of soccer as a player and a referee gave he and his family incredible pride. From a young age, he, with his brothers, were avid Boston Red Sox fans; Phil loved to goad his grandfathers and aunts into Yankee bantering and embraced everything affiliated with Syracuse sport teams. He enjoyed being on the open road, felt a keen sense of accomplishment when he earned his CDL A license from Oswego County BOCES, had a natural aptitude for fixing cars and other machines - including his mother’s sewing machine at the age of seven, and in seconds could find a technology solution. While we knew and believed in Phil and his gifts, he endured unspoken challenges and pain shielded by his beautiful smile and desire to make others laugh. To the world, he may have been one person, but to many, especially his children, he was their world.

He is survived by his beloved children and their mothers, Hayden and Emma Watros (Nicole Levensailor) and Bentley Watros (Maiara Orcutt); his parents, James Watros and Carol Bradlinski-Watros; brothers, Alexander and Steven; grandparents, Stanley Peter and Sharon Bradlinski; dearest niece, Taylor Watros (Alex), wife, Kathaleen; aunts and uncles, Julie Watros-Barber, Jeff Watros (Wendy), Janet Watros, Karen Casey (Peter); cousins, Daniel and Christopher (Watros), Caroline, Meredith, and Catherine (Casey), Melissa and Peter (Bradlinski) and steadfast friend, Adam Babcock. He is predeceased by his grandparents; Richard Watros (Barb), Mary Watros, and Kathryn Watros, uncles; Donald Barber and Douglas Bradlinski.

The family extends their sincerest thanks and appreciation to the staff at Upstate University Hospital and Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network; the care and compassion they provided at a most difficult time were beyond measure.

Prayer Services will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2021 from Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico, NY. Friends and family are invited to call from 2:30 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
