Melissa Anne Gorton, 62, of Mexico NY, passed away at home on October 28, 2023, after a long illness. She was born in Oswego NY on August 24, 1961 to the late Joseph and Anne Gorton.

Missy graduated from Oswego County BOCES in 1982. She worked for many years at Oswego Industries in Fulton NY. After her retirement, Missy attended the Arc of Oswego County Seniors Program, where she enjoyed spending time with friends and participating in her favorite activities.

Missy loved birthday parties, music, animals, bowling, dancing, swimming, camping, and anything to do with Christmas. She had a zest for life and a smile that could light up a room. She spent her life exceeding expectations and loving everyone she met.

In addition to her parents, Missy was predeceased by her brothers-in-law Daniel Bassett and Robert Flanagan.
She is survived by her sisters Melanie Gorton, Michelle Flanagan, and Merrilee Gorton, and her nephews and nieces Jacob, Tonaya and Zianna Gorton.

Missy’s sisters are grateful for the loving care Tonaya gave Missy through her long illness.

A calling hour will be held on Saturday, November 4 2023, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. the First United Methodist Church of Mexico, NY, with a service immediately following.

The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Arc of Oswego County, 7 Morrill Place, Fulton NY 13069.
