Melina Ann Rurey died peacefully on August 12, 2022 after a brief illness. Melina was born in Windham Connecticut on November 8, 1935 to Stephan and Alice Dino.

Melina served in the United States Navy where she received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from the University of Connecticut. She remained on active duty and achieved a rank of Lt. Junior Grade. Melina was stationed primarily at the Newport Rhode Island Naval Hospital. It was during that time that she met Raymond Rurey. They were married on September 11, 1965. Melina was active in their home community of Pulaski New York for many years. Melina was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Pulaski NY. Long after retirement they moved to Columbia SC to be closer to their son and his family.

Melina is survived by her husband Raymond Rurey, Daughter Kelly (Phillip) White of Victor NY, son Bryan (Jessica) Rurey of Elgin, SC. Melina has a sister Patricia Donahue of Hampton Connecticut and three grandchildren that she was very proud of: Sean White of Chicago, Ill. Andrew and Eliott Rurey of Elgin SC. Along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Services will be held at St. David’s Episcopal Church on Saturday August 20, 2022 at 3 p.m. as well as at St. James Episcopal Church in Pulaski NY on September 10, 2022 at 11 a.m. Committal will be private at the family’s convenience. Arrangements are in care of Harter Funeral Home, Inc. Mexico, NY.
