In Loving Memory
Marilyn A. Teifke
January 30, 2022

Marilyn “Min” Teifke passed away peacefully following a brief battle with cancer on January 30, 2022 with her loving family by her side. Min was predeceased by her mother and father, Gwendolyn and Lawrence Barber; and brothers John and Richard Barber. Min is survived by her husband of 45 years, Richard Teifke; sons, John (Suzan) Bartosek, James (Melinda) Bartosek; grandchildren, Meghan (Travis Owen) Hamer, Ethan Bartosek, Jordan Bartosek, and Leah Bartosek; and several nieces and nephews. Min was also predeceased by her beloved daughter, Lori McKee in June of 2011.

Min was born on August 13,1939 in Plattsburgh, NY and eventually moved to Oswego County in 1965. She and her husband owned and managed a successful bar and bowling alley, Tierra Lanes, in Mexico, NY for 20 years. Min was an integral part of the business, which provided for many lifetime memories for the family and numerous friends that were made throughout the years.

Anyone who was close to Min knew that she was the life of any party. Known especially for her witty sense of humor and outgoing personality, Min coined many catchphrases throughout the years: the most noteworthy being, “what the, what the” and “J to J”. In addition to her immediate family, Min gained an extended, additional family of close friends that considered her as a second mother or grandmother.

In her leisure, Min loved to spend time visiting with her friends and family at her and her husband’s camp on Lake Ontario. She was an avid music lover and could typically be found enjoying the sounds of Pink Floyd or Merle Haggard. Min was also adept with anything technology and found joy tinkering with her various laptops, tablets, and other devices.

Funeral services will be celebrated at 6:00pm, Friday February 4, 2022 at the Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico, NY. Friends and family are invited to calling hours from 4:00pm to 6:00pm at the funeral home prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Marilyn’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society.
