On Wednesday, April 25, 2019, Keith D. Himes, loving father and friend, passed away suddenly at the age of 68.

Born April 9, 1951, Keith grew up in Scriba, attended the New Haven Elementary School, and graduated from Mexico High School in 1969. He earned a Bachelor's degree from SUNY Oswego in 1982 and a Master's degree from the same university in 1991.

Keith had a passion for music and was a dedicated music teacher for the Mexico School District for 30 years. Following his retirement in 2016, he continued his passion for teaching, taking on various substitute teaching roles for the district. He was selected as the January 2017 Proud to be MACS Honoree.

Keith was always there to help relatives and friends with anything they needed and often made sacrifices for those he loved. "Squint," as his friends liked to call him, also enjoyed watching sports, especially football and basketball, in his free time. He will be remembered for his kind and compassionate spirit, sense of humor, and never-ending stories.

He was pre-deceased by, his son, Andrew, in 2010 and brother, Larry, in 2012.

Keith is survived by, his daughter, Rachel (Tiago) Queiroz, of Denver, CO and his sister, Mary Himes, of Fulton, NY.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30, 2019 from the Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico NY. Interment will be in the Mexico Village Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to call from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, April 29, 2019 at the funeral home.
