In Loving Memory of Kathleen M. Hart

Kathleen M. Hart, 70, of Brewerton passed away peacefully at Francis House on June 25. She was predeceased by her parents Earl and Kathrine Stairs, and first husband David Pratt. Kathy was born in Albany, NY and moved to the CNY area as an adult.

Kathy was a graduate of Hudson Valley Community College, Plattsburg State College, Syracuse University, and received a master’s degree in social work from Cornell University. Initially starting out a schoolteacher, she changed her career path to become a social worker with Onondaga County Social Services. Her 34-year career culminated attaining the position of Assistant Deputy Commissioner of Medicare, Medicaid, and Adult Protective Service. Outside of her professional career she spent 33 years dedicating her time to be the Secretary Treasure of the Brewerton Fire District. During this time, she was instrumental in a various budgeting and cost saving programs. In her spare time Kathy was an avid trap shooter having won multiple state and local titles. Kathy dedicated her life to helping others and often provided a home for stray animals. She was known for her kind, compassionate, and Irish spirit and will be remembered as a dedicated mother and friend.

Kathy is survived by her husband, George Hart, stepson; David and wife Melissa Hart, grandchildren; Sabina and Tobias Hart, nephew; Jerry and wife Linda Muckey.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Divine Mercy Parish, 592 S. Main Street, Central Square, NY. Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Friday, June 28, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Brewerton Fire Department, 9625 Brewerton Rd. Brewerton, NY. Arrangements are under the Trusted Care of the Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9525 S. Main Street, Brewerton, NY.
