Justin Dart “Judd” Backus

Justin Dart “Judd” Backus, 83, of Inverness, FL, formerly of, Mexico, NY and Silverthorne, CO; died on Thursday, February 28, 2019. He was born in Mexico, NY; the son of the late Reginald and Thelma Backus. He was a 1955 graduate of the Mexico Academy and Central Schools. He served in the United States Navy from 1957 - 1961. He was the owner of the Mexico Feed and Supply Company in Mexico, NY. He was a member of the Mexico Volunteer Fire Department from 1963 – 1977. Judd enjoyed hunting, horseback riding, snowmobiling, golfing and race cars.

He was pre-deceased by, his sister, Roxann.

Judd is survived by, his son, Derrick (Katie) Backus, of Mexico, NY; three daughters, Traci (Guy) Egging, of CO, Jodi (Steve) Crouse, of Oswego, NY and Elisha (Chris) Hartranft, of Mexico, NY; his five grandchildren, Brittni, Brooke, Luke, Taylor and Ryan; his great-granddaughter, Braelynn; and brother, David (Ellen) Backus, of Mexico, NY.

Memorial Services with Full Military Honors will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019, from the Harter Funeral Home Inc., 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico, NY. Friends and family are invited to call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. prior to the service.
