Julia A. Farrell of Brewerton, NY, having celebrated her 100th birthday in June, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 19, 2023, surrounded by loving family and friends at Upstate Community Hospital.
Julia was born on the family farm in Camillus, NY to Joseph and Carmella (Anthony) Salatti and was the youngest of eleven children. Following graduation from Warner High School, she became a secretary, working for Onondaga County. With the election of Syracuse Mayor William F. Walsh, she moved on to City Hall, working as his executive secretary for eight years. Julia eventually joined the staff at Family Court where she served as a court attendant until her retirement.
Known for her quick wit and sense of humor, she always had a clever remark or joke at the ready, making her a beloved presence wherever she went. Julia loved golf, enjoyed going to the gym, and cherished time spent with friends and family. She hosted the first Salatti family reunion over 20 years ago and continued the tradition until the onset of Covid. Despite being sight and hearing impaired, Julia was able to live out her life in her lakeside home thanks to the kindness and love of neighbors and family.
Julia was predeceased by her parents, all of her siblings and by her loving husband of 48 years, Bernard (Bernie). She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews of several generations who were her “kids”, her sister-in-law Marion Farrell, and a first cousin, Rosemary Anthony. Also mourning her loss are the many caring neighbors in Onedia Lake community.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 28, 2023 from Divine Mercy Parish, 592 S. Main Street, Central Square, NY 13036. The mass will be preceded with a time for visitation at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery, Warners, NY. Arrangements are in care of Harter Funeral Home, Inc. Brewerton, NY.
