John Authur Silvin Jr., 79 of Mexico, NY passed away unexpectedly with his loving family by his side. John was born in Nedrow, NY to the late John and Marguerite (Dusur) Silvin.

John leaves behind his lifelong friend, wife and companion Pearl Blasczienski of Mexico, NY. John is survived by nine children, Michael Silvin of Florida, Jennifer Silvin of Syracuse, Robert (Michelle) Holt of Central Square, Stephanie Ostrander of Pulaski, David Tracy of Mexico, NY, CoraRose (Jake) Corcoran of Oswego, Trentyn Holt of Mexico, NY, Arianna Ostrander of Liverpool and Nicholas Lamond of Mexico, NY. John also leaves behind multiple grandchildren, nephews, nieces and cousins. John has two sisters, Patty and Sharon (Sherri) of Syracuse.

John followed his father’s footsteps by joining the military at a young age. John proudly served in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran.

John retired from Carrier in Syracuse. His greatest love was for his family. John loved having his grandchildren around and their curiosity as he painted. John was an accomplished artist. He painted a variety of topics. Landscapes and portraits were his favorites.

In John’s younger years, he loved the farm and animals. He took great pleasure while he and Pearl taught children to ride horses. Most currently, John enjoyed the companionship of his painting group. Importantly, John made many friends at Veterans X and his friendship with Bill Wilson. He will be missed by many. His loss is beyond any words.

There are no calling hours. There will be a service January 20, 2023 with full military honors at 3 P.M. A celebration of life will immediately follow until 6 P.M. Location is the Edick-Hamilnk VFW Post 369, 5930 Scenic Ave, Mexico NY. Scattering of John’s cremains will be at a later date.
