Jared R.K. Gates, 21, of Mexico, NY; passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, December 18, 2021. He was born in Syracuse, son of Robert A. and Deborah Ketcham Gates.

He was a 2018 Graduate of the Mexico Academy and Central Schools. He was a Coach for Mexico Youth Wrestling. He was a proud member of the 2015 State Champion Mexico Wrestling team. He also played football for MACS and was a current member of a flag football team. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and animal lover. He enjoyed golf, old trucks, going to the races and an active social life. He had a strong work ethic and was currently employed by River Valley Foods and previously T.J. Sheenan Company.

He was pre-deceased by, his paternal grandfather, Pete Gates; maternal grandfather, Jim O’Reilly and his paternal step-grandfather, Loren Teachout.

Jared is survived by his parents Robert and Deborah Gates; his brother, Ryan Gates; his maternal grandmother, Patricia O’Reilly; maternal grandfather, Thomas Ketcham; paternal grandmother, Florence Teachout; several aunts, uncles, cousins, numerous friends and his beloved dog Macy May.

Funeral Services will be celebrated at 5 p.m. Thursday, December 23, 2021; from Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico, NY. Relatives and Friends are invited to call from 3 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.
