In Loving Memory of James E. Gates

James E. Gates, 74, of Mexico, NY; died on Wednesday, July 4, 2019 at the Oneida Centers in Utica, NY. He was born in Mexico, NY; son of the late, Kenneth and Marion Hotaling Gates. Jim was a US Army Veteran, serving from 1965-1967. He was a Mechanic, employed by New York State.

He was pre-deceased by, his wife, Clarice H. “Hula” Gates, in 2003; along with brothers Jack, Pete, Louie and Raymond; and sisters, Shirley and Sheila.

Jim is survived by, his son, James A. (Lorie) Gates, of Mexico, NY; his daughter, Bridget (Josh Pierce) Gates, of Apollo Beach, FL; his grandson, Jacob; his sister, Patricia (Gordon) Rice, of Mexico, NY.

Graveside services will be held at 5 p.m. on Friday, July 12, 2019 in the Vermillion Cemetery. A Celebration of Jim’s Life will immediately follow from the Mexico VFW Edick-Hamlink Post #369, 5930 Scenic Avenue, Mexico, NY.
