Mrs Halsey and family, My prayers for peace and comfort are with you. We’ve never met; I read your article on Syracuse.com and was so touched. What a beautiful marriage and friendship you had. Mr Halsey sounds like he was a great guy, and I know he’s watching over you now from above. May he Rest In Peace, and God Bless you and your family.

Ira, my brother, my friend and constant wing man on many trips and journeys. The hours lead into days, of misfit, bonding, just all around enjoying each other friendship. Even though we've traveled different paths, we always manage to hook up and reminisces as we watch our children play together and grown-up. Unfortunately my friend, I've failed to reconnect these past several years. Sorry buddy, some health issues have preoccupied my attention. My heavy heart is sicken that your departure was unforeseeable and compromise by events beyond your control. Well buddy, keep a chair near-by and plate of wings ready and a cold Canadian brewski handy. We will join again and chew some fat while we feast on wings & brews! RIP my friend, you shall be missed.

To the Halsey/Davenport Family, There is no way to adequately express how sorry Terri & I are for your loss - and that of everyone who ever met Ira! He was a rare person in this world. Not many people possess his combination of humor, empathy, and sincere ability to express his love for the people in his life. He appreciated his friends, and treated us like gold. He had no guile or ulterior motives. He was a pure, simple and good man through and through. The world is far less without him. Terri & I will cherish the fine memories we have of the big laughs, cold beers, lawn games and warm summer nights we shared with him and your wonderful family. We are blessed to be your friends. We love you and are here for you always. See you in heaven, old friend - I know you'll keep a cold one stashed for me when I do!

My heartfelt sympathy to Ira's family and friends. I have worked with Ira as long as I can remember. Knowing that I'm also a musician, he would always tell me when his favorite local band, The Todd Hobin band, was playing around town. He was extremely proud of his children and in particular he would share with me the accomplishments of his music student son. You always knew when Ira was in the room. He loved to joke around and the world is a darker place without him in it. You will be missed Ira. Rest in peace.

I grew up in Pulaski and worked on the farm with Lyle and Ira. I have fond memories of working long hot days in the hayfield with Ira. Ira was a great guy to work with. Always treated me well and working with him made the days not seem so long. I haven’t been in touch but this saddens me deeply. My condolences to the Halsey family.

My deepest condolences to the entire family- the Halsey and the Davenport clans. Ira was such a special guy, and words are failing me, so: a story! After many years of falling out of touch with my high school bestie- Tracy- Ira contacted me to arrange a surprise birthday gift for Tracy- where i would surprise her during their celebration trip to Saratoga Springs (between Pulaski and NYC -where i live). From then on, we have been SO much closer - thanks to Ira's super sensitive and amazingly sweet efforts! I will never forget that soulful gesture on his part. Ira will live in my memory forever as the Husband and Father that cared the MOST about his important role with his beautiful family.

Just found out and I am at a loss. Spoke with Gary and he is devastated as well. I have not seen Ira in quite some time. No idea why, just seems like time slipped away and now here we are. I missed quite a few beers over the years it appears, and I will tip a cold one in honor of you, old friend. From one farm kid to another, “May the road rise up to meet you, may the wind be always at your back, may the sun shine warm upon your face". Cheers old friend.

Dear Tracy, Rachel,Larry and Danni, I am so very sorry for your loss. Although I never really got to know Ira personally all that well, when I did see him he always had a smile, a kind word, a joke or all of the above. I know he truly was a family man which was evident from the pictures and stories I would here from you. It shone through like a beacon. Such a blessing to have had. One never knows the right thing to say at such a time if there are right words just know you have many thinking of you at this time. May that give you strength.

Dear Tracy, Larry, Danni and Rachel, We are so sorry for your loss of Ira. We feel we really got to know and appreciate his great sense of humor, positive attitude and huge love for his family when we were preparing for the Macy's parade with all of you. One thing that impressed me was how openly affectionate and loving he was to his wife and kids. He made it very obvious that he considered himself the luckiest man in the world to have all of you around him. That was a true gift he gave to you and the rest of us who alway came away smiling from any interaction with him. Our love & prayers to you and your family, from the Marinos -- Janet, Bob, Leo & Lydia
