Gretchen Nicole MacDougall, 45 of Scriba, NY; passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at her home, after a long, hard battle with cancer.

Gretchen was born on December 5, 1977 to Gerald MacDougall and Shirley (Burr) Nassoiy in Oswego, NY. Gretchen was a graduate of Pulaski High School. Following High School, Gretchen earned a Bachelor’s in Biology from Niagara University. She later earned a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix. She worked in various positions at Oswego Health, for many years.

Gretchen had a love for all animals, especially her dog, Bella and later, Clover. She loved her family and friends, something fierce. She was one of a kind and always made people laugh. Gretchen always put others before herself and will always be remembered for her selflessness.

Gretchen is survived by her mother, Shirley Nassoiy of Oswego, NY; her sister, Stephanie (Michael) Nejedly of Gainesville, VA; nieces, Kayla Wallace of Bushkill, PA, Taylor Wallace of Central Square, NY, Veronica Nejedly of Gainesville, VA and PJ Nejedly of Gainesville, VA; 7 great nephews and extended family.

Gretchen was pre-deceased by her father, Gerald MacDougall; and her beloved dog, Bella.

Per Gretchen’s request, there will be no funeral at this time. However, there will be a Celebration of Life on October 7, 2023 from 12-4pm at the VFW 5930 Scenic Ave Mexico, NY. Arrangements are in care of Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico NY.

Donations may be made in Gretchen’s memory to the Helping Hounds Dog Rescue at 7268 Caswell Ave. N. Syracuse, NY 13212.
