Dr. Francis Edward Bulawa, Jr.

Dr. Francis Edward Bulawa Jr., 87, of Cleveland, NY passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones on August 12, 2022. Frank, also known as “Sonny” by his family and “Doc” by his patients, was the only son of Francis and Henrietta Bulawa, and brother to three sisters, Jean (Walczyk), Penny (O’Dell), and MaryAnn (Ranalli).

Frank was blessed with two special loves in his lifetime including his late wife, Gloria Jean, who during their 11-year-marriage, gave birth to four children, Erick, Derrick, Wendy, and Kurt. In 1992, he married his wife Luella, adding three children, Tom, Beth, and Peggy, to their loving, blended family.

Frank attended and graduated from both the University of Miami and Georgetown University Dental School. He entered and served in the United States Air Force Dental Corps and was stationed in Biloxi, Mississippi. Upon completion of his military service, he started his dental practice in Brewerton, New York. Years later, he fulfilled his dream when he purchased a farm in Cleveland, New York- The Purple Heart Ranch, where he raised his four children.

He spent his days caring for his patients at the office. Weekends included baling hay, driving his tractor, and teaching his children the responsibility of running a farm, hoping they would share the same love he experienced when he spent summers on his grandfather’s farm. Frank had many interests. Just to name a few: his vegetable garden, canning, using his masonry skills to create his own fireplaces and Cobblestone Golf Course, golfing, crabbing, clamming, singing in the Barbershop Chorus, SU Basketball, and maintaining the Polish family traditions.

Frank is survived by his wife, Luella; his sisters Jean Walczyk and MaryAnn (Robert) Ranalli; his four children, Drs. Erick (Beth) Bulawa of Greeneville, TN; Derrick (Brenda) Bulawa of Bismarck, ND; Wendy (Anthony) Agudelo of North Andover, MA; Kurt (Trang) Bulawa of Lakewood, CO; three stepchildren Tom (Sue) Evans of York, PA, Beth (Mark) Gardner of Crystal Lake, IL; Peggy (Matt) Scorzelli of Baldwinsville, NY, 17 grandchildren, 12.5 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and extended family – all of whom will continue to cherish and execute set-forth family traditions.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents Francis and Henrietta Bulawa; wife, Gloria Jean; sister, Penny O’Dell; his brothers-in-law, Robert Walczyk and LaVerne O’Dell, and his childhood dog, Petunia.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, August 19, 2022, at the Bulawa property located next to (322 State Road; Rt. 49, Cleveland, NY). A burial will take place at a later date. Arrangements are in care of Harter Funeral Home, Inc. Brewerton, NY.
