Francis J. Alder, 85, of Mexico, NY; passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2022 with his family by his side. He was born in Oswego, NY on October 21, 1937 to Raymond and Burnadetta Alder, of Mexico, NY.

Francis was a member of the Mexico High School Class of 1956. He served in the Army from 1956-1959, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

He married Dian Gibson on July 3, 1958.

He retired from P&C Food Markets after 30 years as a Truck Driver. After retiring, he drove for Raymour & Flanigan for 5 years.

Francis was a member of the American Legion Post #268 in Oswego, NY and a member of the Moose Lodge #743 in Oswego, NY, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Watertown, NY and a member of the Harley owners’ group for many years.

He enjoyed hunting, riding motorcycles and traveling.

He is pre-deceased by his parents; his son, Michael; his sister, Nancy; and his brother, Albert.

Francis is survived by his wife, Dian; his son, Jeffrey (Stephanie) of Parish, NY; his daughters, Ellen (Bill) Francis, of Mexico, NY, Irene Alder, of Baldwinsville, NY, Rae Anne Hayden, of East Syracuse, NY, Kathryn Alder, of Liverpool, NY and Laurie (Bill) Buxton, of Mexico, NY; 17 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 from St. Anne Mother of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Mexico, NY. Interment will be in Mexico Village Cemetery. Arrangements are in care of Harter Funeral Home, Inc. Mexico, NY.
