Obituary for Eloise Brewster Knapp Fuller

IN LOVING MEMORY
Eloise Brewster Knapp Fuller
November 13, 2019

Eloise Brewster Knapp Fuller died peacefully on the evening of Wednesday, November 13, 2019. She was ninety-six years old, and beloved for her optimism and quick wit, as well as her appreciation of art and love of family.

Eloise was born in Fulton, New York on February 6, 1923. Her father, Dr. Paul C. Knapp, was a dentist and her mother a teacher in the Fulton School District. Eloise called herself “Wink” as a little girl, which became a long-lasting family nickname. She attended The Northfield School for Girls in Massachusetts and then graduated from Syracuse University, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Studio Art. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority while at Syracuse.

After graduation, she attended Milwaukee-Downer College to study and provide occupational therapy for men returning from World War II. She returned to Central New York, and met her husband, Robert "Bob" C. Fuller of Parish, New York, while at The Elms golf course in Sandy Pond. They married in November of 1945 and spent fifty-eight years together until Bob's death in 2003. They lived in Parish, New York and raised three children: Hadwen C. Fuller II of Fayetteville, NY; Kay Daller Spear of Phoenix, AZ; and Rillann “Muffe” Van Epps of Vero Beach, FL.

Eloise loved beauty in art and nature, and was a proficient artist herself. She loved to learn, especially through travel and experiencing different cultures. In addition to being a devoted wife and mother, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Parish, and a past President of the AP Chapter of PEO in Syracuse. She loved Lake Placid, New York, where her mother grew up, and cherished the Adirondacks. She passed on her love of Upstate New York to her entire family.

She is survived by her brother Paul C. Knapp of Newark Valley, NY, and predeceased by her sister, Jean Knapp Simons of Aiken, SC, in addition to her husband Bob. In addition to her children, she is survived by her grandchildren: Hadwen III, Darren, and Reed Fuller of Fayetteville, NY; Katherine Fuller Head of Sherborne, MA; Dana Daller Powell of Phoenix, AZ; Ansley Van Epps of Pittsburg, PA; and Elizabeth Van Epps Mitchell of Salt Lake City, UT, in addition to many great grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Parish Public Library or the Loretto Foundation for Alzheimer's and Dementia Care are greatly appreciated.

Funeral Services will be Private.
Arrangements are under the care of the Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 2983 W. Main Street, Parish, NY.
