Ella (Roberta) Cowen-Merritt, 96, of Parish, NY; died Wednesday, February 10, 2021 at Crouse Hospital, Syracuse, NY. She was born in Syracuse, NY on April 18, 1924; daughter of the late Homer and Elizabeth Barker Chase.

Roberta lived a long life and loved to be babied. She fought the good fight right until the end. We are grateful for her life and to know she is finally at peace.

She is pre-deceased by her first husband, Wallace Cowen and her second husband, Robert Merritt.

Roberta is survived her children, Nancy Herrington of Colorado Springs, CO, Carol Worden of Hastings, NY, Sandra Rio of Central Square, NY, Robin (Richard) Knight, of Mexico, NY, William (Sue) Cowen of Mexico and Penny (Dave) Cowen Archibee of Mexico, NY; along with 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; and her caretakers, Marty, Linda A. and Linda B.

Funeral Services will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2021 from Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico, NY. Spring Interment will be in Pleasant Lawn Cemetery, Parish, NY. Friends and family are invited to call from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home prior to the service.
