Obituary for Elizabeth Spicer

In Loving Memory
Elizabeth Spicer
December 12, 2022

Elizabeth Spicer, affectionately known to all as Lizzy, passed away peacefully at her home on December 12, 2022, in the company of her family. Born in New Jersey on December 4, 1939, to Francisco Ruiz of Almeria, Spain, and Magdalena Hoffman, from Selasia, Germany, she grew up in Saratoga Springs, NY, along with her brother, Fran Ruiz. She was a resident of Syracuse for many years.

She graduated from Central City Business Institute and worked as an administrative assistant prior to starting her family. She loved her work of many years for the Bunis family bookstores, where she made many dear, lifelong friends.

Lizzy was a caring and compassionate soul who cherished the time she spent at her home on the river, feeding family and friends. In quiet moments she enjoyed the beauty of nature and watching the boats on the river pass by.

She is predeceased by David and Patty Stabins, Stephen Rich, David Spicer, and Dick Spicer. She is survived by her sons, Robert A. Spicer, Jr., Richard M. Spicer (Manami), and Joseph Spicer; her daughters, Catherine Cook (John) and Patricia Spicer; her grandchildren, Benjamin, Nicholas, Richard, Christopher, Markus, Ema, Jesse, Jason, Jordy, Michael, John David, Joseph, William, Marissa, Kyle, and Brendan; and her great grandchildren, Katelyn, Alexandra, Olivia, Amelia, Quinn, Sloane, Noah, Silas, and one in the oven!
She is also survived by her brother, Fran Ruiz, and sisters-in-law Mary Jane Spicer and Caye Rich and many dear nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be celebrated at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022; from Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9525 S. Main Street (Brewerton Road) Brewerton, NY. Relatives and Friends are invited to call from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service.

Lizzy will be laid to rest with her beloved son David in the Children's Cemetery at Assumption Cemetery in Syracuse at 11 am on December 17, 2022.

The family would like to thank the multiple caregivers whose dedication gave comfort and peace to Lizzy and her family. A special thanks goes out to Shannon Henry and Rita Bunis for their ever-loving support.
