Edmund J. Lescenski, 84, of West Amboy, NY; passed away at his home, on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 with his loving family by his side. He was born on July 19, 1939 in Amboy, NY to the late Edward and Elizabeth Lescenski
Ed served our country as a member of the United States Army Reserve from 1958-1966 at Fort Dix, NJ, Fort Knox, KY and at Fort Drum, NY.
In 1961, he was married to his wife, Barbara.
He was employed at Muench Kreuzer Candle Company for 50+ years, becoming a Foreman before his retirement. He served as a Board Member for the West Amboy Community Church, a volunteer firefighter for the West Amboy Volunteer. Fire Dept, and town council for the Town Amboy. In the 1970’s, Ed taught Ceramics at APW. He also worked as a Cook at the Grist Mill and was the Head Chef at Monkman’s for 13 years. Ed would host chicken barbeques in front of his house, cooking with family and calling it “Sonny’s Finger Lickin’ Chicken”. He served as a 4H leader. Ed enjoyed ceramics, fishing, hunting, camping and snowmobiling. He was a generous community member.
He was pre-deceased by his daughter, Jenny Lynn.
Ed is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara; his children, Ray (Kelly) Lescenski of Jacksonville, NC, Clifford (Nancy) Lescenski of Hazard KY, Andrew and Alexander Lescenski of Amboy NY,also 3 foster daughters Sandra, Nancy and Ann; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren. Also a brother Donald Lescenski of Amboy NY.
Funeral Services will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 16, 2023 from the West Amboy Community Church with the Rev. William Bryant officiating. Interment will be in the West Amboy Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow the grave side service at the West Amboy Community Church. Relatives and Friends are invited to call from 1-3 p.m. and again from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 15, 2023 at the West Amboy Community Church. Arrangements are in care of Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 2983 W. Main Street, Parish, NY.
