Douglas A. Backus, 75, of Mexico, NY; passed away on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at his home. He was born in Syracuse, NY on December 25, 1946 to the late Arthur and Verna Petrie Backus.

He was an avid outdoorsman and was a hunter, trader, trapper and fur buyer. He attended the Light House Church of God in Mexico, NY.

Doug is survived by his three children, Jeff (Heather) Backus, Kristin Gamble and Morgan Backus; his six grandchildren; and his brothers, Edmund "Pete" (Karen) Backus and Jeffrey Backus.

Funeral Services will be celebrated at 6 p.m. Monday, February 14, 2022 from Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico, NY. Spring Interment will be in the Mexico Village Cemetery. Relatives and Friends are invited to call at the funeral home from 4 to 6 p.m. prior to the service.
