Obituary for David Donald Burt

IN LOVING MEMORY
David D. Burt
November 1, 2019

David Donald Burt, 63, passed away on November 1, 2019 surrounded by family and dear friends.
David was born on January 22, 1956 in Canandaigua, New York, the son of Donald and Antoinette (Murray) Burt.
David graduated from Alfred University with a B.S. in Ceramic Engineering. He obtained his M.S. in 1990 from the University of Missouri-Rolla. During his 41year career, David was a developer, researcher, inventor and a small business entrepreneur. After working in Miami and Missouri, he returned to Canandaigua in 1994 and has lived there since.

David loved music, wine, motorcycles, computers and ladies (not necessarily in that order!)
He was an excellent friend, an exemplary brother. Always kind and generous of his time and talents, David was one of seven siblings. He is best described as the biggest Burt with the biggest heart.

David is survived by his brothers: Michael (Jennifer) Burt of Berkley, CA, Stephen Burt of Webster, NY, Matthew (Cindy) Burt of Naples, NY, Peter (Lourdes) Burt of Corona, CA. and Daniel Burt of Rochester, NY. David had one sister, Debby (John) Harter of Cartersville, GA. He was predeceased by his mother, Antoinette and his father, Donald. Also survived by many nieces and nephews and one especially loving cousin, Jan Burt Quinn of Rochester, NY.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Patty Taegder, a close friend of David’s who was there for him through every step of his journey. Our gratitude extends to the Neuro ICU and Palliative care teams at Strong Memorial Hospital who made this difficult time more bearable by their patience, care and concern for David and his family.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 4791 West Lake Road, Canandaigua, NY on Saturday, Nov. 16th from 2:00 to 6:00 PM. Gather at 2 for the eulogy at 3 and bring your special memories of David to share. A light meal will be served.
This is a private residence with limited parking. Please proceed to Onanda Park which is one mile beyond the home and has ample parking. We will be shuttling people back to the home. Please DO NOT park on W. Lake Road or in the home’s shared driveway.

Those who wish may contribute to the Palliative Care Team at Strong Memorial Hospital in David’s memory.
