Daniel Thomas Burt, 58, of Rochester, New York, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on March 13, 2023. Daniel was born on January 3, 1965, the son of Donald and Antoinette (Murray) Burt. Daniel grew up in Penfield, NY, and Canandaigua, NY, spending lots of time on Canandaigua Lake.
Daniel was the youngest of seven siblings. He was known as a “big kid”, someone who could never pass up a good crane game and who had to have a lottery ticket just in case it was time to win big. He also enjoyed fixing and upgrading computers. Daniel loved the Buffalo Bills and made sure to watch every game he could. He was very caring and thoughtful and loved making videos filled with pictures and music as memories for others.
Daniel was a man of many talents with degrees in both accounting and the culinary arts. He was a chef, loved to cook and spend time in the kitchen. He enjoyed a quality meal and always knew how dishes “should have been cooked”. Steak was his favorite with a side of potatoes including extra, extra, sour cream, just like his daughter. He also prepared taxes and had many clients in and around the Rochester area.
Daniel is survived by his daughter, Jessica Marie Burt of Brockport, NY, who was his pride and joy. His daughter was his “peanut” and he never stopped sharing how proud he was of her. They spent many hours talking about football, playing board games, computer games, mini golfing, fishing, and in recent years they even cooked dinners together at her home. Daniel was looking forward to watching her get married to her fiancé Hunter (Sharp), this upcoming May.
Daniel is also survived by his former wife Tanya Burt of Hamlin, NY, and by his brothers: Michael (Jennifer) Burt of Berkeley, CA, Stephen Burt of Webster, NY, Matthew (Cindy) Burt of Naples, NY, Peter (Lourdes) Burt of Corona, CA, and his sister: Debby (John) Harter of Cartersville, GA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Antoinette, his father, Donald, and his brother, David.
A private burial will be held at a later date followed by a memorial service for close family members in Canandaigua, NY. Arrangements are in care of Harter Funeral Home, Inc. Mexico, NY.
