Obituary for Corinne E. Kiesinger

Corinne E. “Connie” Kiesinger
March 12, 2019

Connie Kiesinger, 75 of Mexico, died peaceably at Oswego Hospital Tuesday, March 12, 2019. Connie was born in Oswego County and except for a brief time early in her married life, lived there until her death. If you asked her why she stayed in this area she may have answered you, because everything she wanted was here. Family and friends were the most important things in her life.

Connie graduated in 1961 from Mexico Academy, where she was involved in many activities, including All State Chorus. For many years, Connie’s clear, strong voice could be heard on Sunday mornings in churches throughout the area. In 1962, she married her high school sweetheart, Fred Kiesinger. They remained married until his death in 2017.

The dictionary’s definitions of Mother and Nurse contain many similarities. “One who nurtures… a caregiver…one who shows love for others”. Connie was a Nurse by formal training…a Mother by instinct.

She dedicated her life to caring for and nurturing her family. Her compassion for others included many children. She touched young lives as she cared for children of all ages. Her love of others reached to the seniors she cared for as they lived out their years, trusting Connie daily to be there for them. She always was.

Connie’s love of helping others could be seen in her volunteer work, which was extensive. For many years if a chartable event was taking place, Connie could be found at the heart of it. Her role in her community was so respected that she was honored as “Outstanding Volunteer of the Year.”

Eventually, health issues would limit Connie’s mobility. However, her efforts to help others did not stop. The hands that once prepared meals and tended to the physical needs of others…now held a Bible as she prayed. She would pray for her family. She prayed for friends. People would visit her and together they prayed for those in the church and community who were having hard times.

A tireless worker entered into rest this week. Predeceased by, her husband Fred; and her son Greg; she now is together with them as they rejoice in Heaven.

Connie is survived by, her Daughter Heather, who has followed her Mother as a Nurse, caring for others; her grandsons, Justin (Nicolette) and Joshua (Danielle) whom she loved and dedicated her life to helping them become them men they are today. She was over joyed to meet her great grandson Everett, and her last few months were enriched because of him.

The family is having a gathering at Connie's home, 100 N. Jefferson Street, Mexico; on Sunday March 17, 2019 from 1-4 PM for her Family and Friends. Arrangements are in the trusted care of the Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico NY.
