Carol (Haven) Thompson, 81, of Mexico, NY died after a short illness at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Syracuse, NY. She was born on March 14 1940, in Syracuse, NY, the daughter of the late Charles and Catherine (Bush) Haven. In 1956, she married Kenneth Thompson who predeceased her in 2000.

Carol and Ken spent the earliest years of their marriage in Mattydale and North Syracuse area and then made a big move to Florida in 1983. While in Florida they built their dream home and welcomed family and friends to enjoy trips to Disney, Cape Canaveral and more. Carol especially enjoyed when her grandchildren would visit her for a month each summer in Florida.

After Ken’s death Carol returned to Central New York and moved to Mexico, NY in 2001. Carol was a dependable homemaker who was also devoted to the care of her parents and her mother-in-law. She also enjoyed bingo, and following SU sports and the New York Yankees.

Carol is survived by her son John of Baldwinsville, NY and her two grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Her grandchildren are Jeannine Thompson and Nicholas Thompson. Her step-grandchildren are Matthew, Courtney and Jacob Ray. Her great-grandchildren are Deshawn Manuel, Jasmine Manuel, Cameron Thompson, Ian Holloway and Owen Holloway

Carol was one of 14 children and is survived by Charles Haven, Frances Legnetto, Gail Rizzo, John Haven, Thomas Haven and Susan Peterson and predeceased by sisters Kathryn Kolodziey, Mary Davis, Jane Crossman, Helen Ruth Ketaily, Edna Cimilluca, Patricia Morse and brother Michael Haven. She was also pre-deceased by her daughter-in-law Mona Thompson.

Carol’s life will be celebrated at calling hours at Harter Funeral Home, Inc. 9 Washington Avenue, Mexico, NY from 5-7 pm on Monday, May 10, 2021 and her private burial will be taking place at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Oswego County Office of the Aging at 70 Bunner Street Oswego, NY 13126.
